This page makes me a little sad, but I think that’s what John was going for.

While Era of Great Wonders is intended for kids, there’s a part of me that says “No! You can’t leave the grandma behind!”

But then I remember all those traumatic kids books I read when I was little (Nana Upstairs, Nana Downstairs; Where the Red Fern Grows; The Black Cauldron) and I remember: no, kids can handle that stuff. It’s important to handle these feelings in a safe place (and I firmly believe that books and comics are a safe place) rather than getting smacked in the face with that stuff in real life, without any preparation.

This page (and the next one) are still a little rough though. No lie.
